New Year's Eve night was a hike to the summit of South Boulder Peak, which sits at an elevation 8,450 ft. Got to the summit just as the sun set behind the mountains. Good thing it was warm (50F's), as the winds were insane! Other than the wind, the highly traveled trail was an ice rink. It was basically 3,000 ft of up and down hoping from rock to rock...to rock...to rock.
Sonya and I got to the summit just before the light of day totally left us.
"Now, where did I put those gummy bears?"
New Year's Day was spent hiking and snowshoeing in Indian Peaks Wilderness outside of Eldora. We didn't reach our target destination. The further west we went the feet of snow left us scratching our heads as to where the trail was.
Yes! Fueled by day old pizza.
Almost knee deep in poo.......err.......powder.
That's a wrap! Back to the bike for the weekend.
All the photos.
