Answering the call
So today (Saturday) Coach scheduled a 3-5 hour day of race/max effort in the form a road group ride. I am down in Boulder for the weekend, so the group rides...that I knew of....were limited. I pretty much made up my mind to hit up this 10 AM road group ride up in north Boulder. That is until I got a message from Tom Danielson saying he was heading out for 5 hours to do some climbing. I thought, heck, why not go out and do some hard climbing. His climbing tempo is pretty much my red line climbing pace, so I got everything I needed out of today's ride.
On the way out of town we picked up U23 VMG/Felt rider Kirk Carlsen to take part in the days festivities.I spent a lot of my climbing today near the 300 watt mark. Any time I started hitting above 350 watt mark, I was off the back to fend for myself until the top of the chosen climb.
The 2nd to last climb of the day.....up 4 Mile Canyon Rd. Brap! Brap!
The final climb of the day was Flagstaff Rd. It was the toughest...and the dagger in my engine. Word on the street is that the route had 9,000 ft of climbing. Entire route map can be see here. A small sampling of today's photos, including the power file, are here. Now, as for tomorrow? Might be a snowshoeing day. Temps are to fall to the 20's and snow is to show its head again. Guess we'll see.
