Tempo Tuesday's
Back on the training horse today. Coach is starting to ramp things up for the year. Monday I started the evil core workout program, and today I got in a good tempo session. Today's work was just right. It was a 2 hour ride on a flat road. One hour of that was a 240-280 watt tempo at 100+ rpm. It felt pretty good. The end had me all over the wattage zone mentioned above as I started to get back into the Fort Collins city limits and was having to slow for stop lights and signs.
A few days ago a reader asked me to review the Rotwild R.R2 road bike fameset that I received late last Summer. The build is the same as the Cannondale Six-13 I was training on before. In fact, it is the same parts swapped over to the Rotwild. There are a few differences between the 2 bikes. The Rotwild is a full carbon frame, where the Cannondale was an alumn frame with a carbon down tube. In my hands, the Rotwild felt a little bit lighter...but not by much. On the road is where I can notice a difference. The Rotwild appears to be stiffer. Seems every little push of the pedal goes straight to the chain...then rear wheel. The comfort factor between the 2 bikes is almost identical. The Rotwild full carbon frame has just a slight edge.....especially on road rides over 5 hours. I suppose if I was racing this bike I would pay closer attention to the smaller details....but I don't. After all, it is a training tool.
Coming soon, their will be posts containing the 2009 Topeak-Ergon team sponsors as well as the complete European and North American roster.
Also, July is turning out to be a HUGE bike racing month here in Colorado. No, these are not just local events, but rather National level events. Mark your calendars! This give you a reason to take a month long vacation to Colorado now.
