Maximizing the Day

Today's route was a epic jaunt up and over the 10 Mile Range on the Colorado Trail to Copper Mountain. Not epic in terms of distance...but rather the views. Kind of a taste for an event that has me very interested for 2008.

DSCF0001.JPGIt's only a hair under 14 miles to Copper. How hard can it be...really?

DSCF0003.JPGMost of the trail, until you got above the tree line looked just like this. Awesome! And yes, there was a few hike-a-bike sections.

Yep, up and over the peak is where I am heading. Got a ways to go yet.

Once above the tree line, I found myself is some pretty good rock fields. Only thing to do was pick up the bike and hoof it.

DSCF0009.JPGOnce to the top...the views were worth it! Temps here were right above the freezing mark...and it was a bit breezy. Note the snow at eye level on the mountains in the back ground.

Just a bit more trail to traverse before dropping down to Copper Mountain.

Back in the trees and the singletrack is some of the best I have ridden in Summit County.

Final 10 miles were the bike trail from Copper Mountain to Breckenridge. It was all downhill back to the FJ. Once to the FJ, folks were packing the lot for a day of trail fun. The FJ ended up sparking an unscheduled Ergon demo to a few folks who became curious.

Tomorrow I head 8 hours west to St. George, UT. Why? For a 6 hour epic on Saturday with the Bionic One. Then on Sunday....a short 2 hour jaunt to Las Vegas for a week of bicycle industry mayhem.
